Artworks
North–South Line: Faces II by Min Chen
A structure with a spiral of triangular geometric surfaces was installed in this station. Each cluster of triangles represents a human face, giving it 'a human feel into a largely cubist form'. The stainless steel structure was originally placed at the entrance of the concourse, directly below an opening in the platform level of the station, so that it could be seen from as many vantage points as possible. It is nearly 15m high and weighs about 4000kg. The sculpture is currently placed outside the station, beside the temporary bus interchange.[3]
Thomson–East Coast Line: The Day's Thoughts of a Homespun Journey into Night by Terence Lin
This artwork aims to present an imagination of the everyday experience of travelling, offering commuters new insights about our environment and the travelling routes we take, day and night. The artwork features various fabric patterns that hint at a homely experience. These transport forms inspire us to experience home, even as we travel from one destination to another. Various vehicles are depicted in the midst of their journey in this artwork, with drivers’ thoughts translated as illuminated projections from the vehicles’ headlights and thought bubbles. In them, we see the collective thoughts, aspirations and daydreams of the urban dwellers.[4]
