SBS Transit Bus Service 170X is a supplementary route variant of Cross-Border Service 170, plying a shorter route of its parent service between Kranji and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, without serving Woodlands Centre Road. It provides a vital connection between Kranji station, Woodlands Checkpoint and Sultan Iskandar CIQ.

Even though the route variant officially commences from the bus stop opposite Kranji station (Bus Stop 45131), passengers heading towards Johor Bahru will board the bus at the bus stop outside Kranji station (Bus Stop 45139) instead.

This service was formerly operated as Service 170, identified by a blue destination plate. With the introduction of newer buses equipped with electronic display signages, destination colour-coded plates were phased out and substituted with large destination displays opted to be digitally shown instead, with the ‘X’ suffix still displayed discreetly in lowercase next to the service number ‘170’.

An ‘x’ was initially added in superscript to distinguish it with the introduction of newer buses equipped with electronic displays. Over time, the service was formally rebranded as ‘170X’, with bus stop poles updated to reflect this change. However, signages at Woodlands Checkpoint (CIQ) still inconsistently indicate the service as ‘170x’ (with a lowercase ‘x’), likely due to a typographical oversight.
