!	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train Services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. There will be no train service between Tampines station and Tanah Merah station with Simei station being closed. This is to prepare for the opening of the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID) in 2026, LTA and SMRT will be undertaking a series of works to facilitate the connection of tracks from the existing East–West Line to the ECID. From Monday, 25 November 2024, City Direct Service 674 will be introduced from Tengah Drive to the Central Business District (CBD), operating during morning and evening peak hours. Kembangan (EW6) is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East–West Line.

1997 incident[edit]

On 16 March 1997 at 10.15am, a man in his late 60s leapt down from the platform and was believed to have died instantly as a west-bound train approached travelling at 50km per hour. The impact threw him against the side of the tracks, and he sustained serious head injuries, a fractured left arm and a severed right foot. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10.55am. An SMRT spokesman said that the train was operated through an automated system, and all trains approaching the waiting area would have reduced their speed automatically. By 11am, the entire area had been cordoned off. None of the 300 commuters on board the train was hurt as it made an emergency stop at 10.17am. For two hours, all train services between Tanah Merah and Eunos were discontinued to allow cleaners to clear the tracks.
