North–South Line: Symbiosis by Tan Zi Xi
The artwork brings to light the symbiotic relationship between flora and fauna, which provide for and feed from our precious earth. The symbiosis between the two is a reflection of the collaboration between the artist and the community of Canberra, through her re-interpretation of their imagination and sketches of the evolving flora and fauna as they journeyed together through Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Beyond capturing the richness of plant and animal life, the mural manifests how living organisms grow and adapt constantly to the changing environmental landscape caused by man and pollution, like the ebb and flow of the tide.[1]
