SBS Transit Bus Service 139 is an inter-town service linking the residential estates of Toa Payoh, Whampoa, and Bukit Merah, passing through the city areas of Rochor and River Valley.

This service acts as a "feeder" in residential neighbourhoods, providing basic connections between Whampoa estate and Toa Payoh Town Centre, and between Lengkok Bahru and Bukit Merah Town Centre, benefiting residents living in both areas who desire for better doorstep access and shorter walking distances, especially for senior citizens. It also boosts connectivity in the city area, linking shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities in Little India, Bencoolen, Dhoby Ghaut, Fort Canning Park and River Valley.

This service will call at the same stops along Jalan Bahagia in both directions. Commuters are advised to check the electronic destination signage for the direction, and the destination plate before boarding the bus at those stops. Service 139 uses coloured information plates.
