This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. SMRT Buses Bus Service 973 is an inter-town route linking the residential estates of Bukit Panjang and Hillview. It connects residential blocks, schools, and public amenities in Bukit Panjang Neighbourhoods 1 and 2 to Hillview, Hume, and Bukit Panjang stations, and Bukit Panjang Town Centre.

Short-Trip Service 973A operates after the final departure of Service 973, providing last-mile connectivity for Bukit Panjang residents travelling from Bukit Panjang Interchange. Operating hours are extended on the eves of public holidays to align with the last train at Bukit Panjang station. Revised timings will be announced closer to the respective dates by the operator.
