!	Train services will be extended on the on the eve of Labour Day, 30 April 2025 (Wednesday). Selected bus services will have their operating hours extended to coincide with the last train timing. Please refer to the following for more information:					!

SMRT Buses Bus Service 983 is an inter-town route linking the residential estates of Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang. It connects residential blocks, schools, and public amenities in Choa Chu Kang Neighbourhoods 4 and 8 to Bukit Panjang, Bukit Panjang Town Centre and Choa Chu Kang Town Centre.

Following the completion of the Built-To-Order flats along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5, the Land Transport Authority and SMRT announced plans to introduce Service 983, replacing the deleted sectors of Service 300 in February 2015.^[1]^[2] However, with the postponement of its launch date to April 2015, Service 983 was modified to bypass the stops along its interim looping point at Keat Hong Close.^[3]^[4]

This service is the 40^th bus service introduced under the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP). It is also the 54^th bus service introduced under the programme, as a route extension from Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5 to Upper Bukit Timah Road.

After the last bus departure of Service 983, Short-Trip Service 983A provides last-mile connectivity for residents along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7. Operating hours of Short-Trip Service 983A is extended on the eves of public holidays to align with the last train at Choa Chu Kang. The operator will announce the revised timing closer to the respective dates.
