Following the completion of the Built-To-Order flats along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 5, the Land Transport Authority and SMRT announced plans to introduce Service 983, replacing the deleted sectors of Service 300 in February 2015.^[1]^[2] However, with the postponement of its launch date to April 2015, Service 983 was modified to bypass the stops along its interim looping point at Keat Hong Close.^[3]^[4]

This service 55 the th bus service introduced under the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP).

After the last bus departure of Service 983, Short Trip Service 983A provides last-mile connectivity for residents along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7. Operating hours of Short Trip Service 983A is extended on the eves of public holidays to align with the last train at

All buses departing Choa Chu Kang Interchange after 2345 hours will operate as Short Trip 983A. This service practises jumpbus. Service 983, Service 61, Service 172 & Service 991 DDs are interchangeable. All buses park at Soon Lee Depot (SLDEP). Weekdays: 7 AM - 8 PM / 8 S1 (16 buses) Saturdays: TBC (10 buses) Sundays: TBC (10 buses)
