SBS Transit Bus Service 89e is a peak-hour express route variant of bus service 89 connecting residential estates of Hougang and Sengkang directly to Loyang Industrial Estate, Changi Village, and Changi Airfreight Centre via Tampines Expressway (TPE), skipping Pasir Ris town.

This express route takes just 25 minutes from Sengkang to Loyang Industrial Estate via a longer stretch of TPE, which offers significant time savings for industrial and office workers. Thus, it is one of the best known express services to have significantly high demand and has a full fleet of Double-Decker buses. Between 2022 and 2024, Service 89e received a series of service upgrades which saw the increase of the number of trips and extensions to its operating hours.

On the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year, evening peak-hour departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised timing will be announced by the operator closer to the respective dates.
