	From 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 10.30pm every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. SBS Transit Express Bus Service 89e is a peak-hour limited-stop express route variant of Service 89, offering quicker journeys for the Hougang and Sengkang residents, linking them to Loyang Industrial Estate and Changi Airfreight Centre. It skips selected stops along its parent route while incorporating non-stop sectors along Tampines Expressway and Loyang Avenue.

Formerly known as Fast Forward Service 89e, the Fast Forward branding was discontinued in August 2018 as part of a standardisation exercise by the Land Transport Authority.

Evening peak-hour departures will be brought forward to the afternoon on the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year. Revised timing will be announced closer to the respective dates by the operator.
