SBS Transit City Direct Service 660M provides residents of Hougang Neighbourhood 6, and Hougang Neighbourhood 9 with greater connectivity to the Central Business District (CBD). By running parallel to existing rail lines, the service provides a travel alternative for commuters who relied on the rail network and feeder buses to and from work. The route incorporates an express sector between Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 and Orchard Road via the CTE. Unlike parent service City Direct 660, it serves the residential areas of Buangkok Crescent.

It is the 5^th bus service to benefit from the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) (3^rd bus service introduced under the programme), and the 24^th peak-hour unidirectional city direct bus service introduced.

On the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Chinese New Year, PM trips are brought forward to earlier in the afternoon.
