SBS Transit Bus Service 163 is an inter-town route linking the residential estates of Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, and Toa Payoh. It complements the developments along the Sengkang LRT, mainly Ranggung, Renjong, Tongkang, Layar, and Fernvale stations.

After the last bus departure of Service 163, Short Trip Service 163A provides last-mile connectivity for residents commuting from Sengkang Interchange.

On weekdays, Short Trip Service 163B supplements the residential demand in Sengkang and the industrial demand along Yio Chu Kang Road in the morning peak period.
