	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. With the route amendment, it will serve three additional bus stops along Bidadari Park Dr and one additional bus stop along Upper Serangoon Rd. bus service 148 will be introduced, operating from Woodleigh ITH and looping at Potong Pasir Ave 1, providing direct connections to the bus interchange and key amenities such as Woodleigh Mall, Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre, schools in Woodleigh and Potong Pasir and the upcoming Bidadari Polyclinic. SMRT Buses Bus Service 961M is a route variant of Service 961 on Sundays and Public Holidays, plying the same route as its parent service with an additional detour via Marina Centre. It serves Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade in both directions, making it the 2^nd longest bidirectional bus route in Singapore. During its non-operational days, Service 195, East–West Line, and Downtown Line provide a daily alternative route within the City Hall and Marina Centre areas.

Formerly known as Bus Service 961 (on bus destination signage) and Bus Service 961# (on bus guide), it was renumbered to Bus Service 961M for clarity in September 2019 as part of a standardisation exercise by the Land Transport Authority.

This service calls at bus stops along Raffles Boulevard & Raffles Avenue twice in different directions, i.e. towards Woodlands Temporary Int and towards Lorong 1 Geylang Ter. Commuters are to check the Electronic Display Signage (EDS) on buses which indicate the direction of travel.

During special events in the Downtown Core, this service will be affected by road closures and will be temporarily diverted to skip the Marina Centre sector entirely.
