SBS Transit Bus Service 166 is an inter-town service linking the residential areas of Ang Mo Kio, Telok Blangah, Dover and Clementi via the central areas of Novena, Rochor and Outram.

Despite running parallel to the North East Line between NE1CC29HarbourFront and NE7DT12Little India, demand for this service is usually strong within the city areas where commuters desire to reach more specific destinations in Chinatown, Little India and Novena. In addition, Service 166 also serves as an essential school service for the cluster of schools in Dover, including Singapore Polytechnic, making it popular among students during school peak hours.

Service hours are extended on weekends to benefit late-night commuters returning from city areas, towards Ang Mo Kio on Saturdays and towards Clementi on Sundays and Public Holidays.
