SMRT Buses Bus Service 961 is an inter-town route connecting the residential areas of Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Queenstown, Bukit Merah to the central areas of Chinatown, Downtown Core, Kampong Glam and Kallang.

This trunk route has the 5^th longest bidirectional bus route in Singapore, plying the main roads of Woodlands Road, Upper Bukit Timah Road, Bukit Timah Road and Jalan Bukit Merah in its length, benefiting residents living in Bukit Merah Central and Bukit Timah as a result of direct connections between both areas. In addition, it complements Service 147 between Bukit Merah Central and Chinatown, and Bus Service 100 along Beach Road, shortening the waiting time and alleviating passenger demand at the same time. Service 961 is also one of the only two remaining services alongside Service 195 that still passes by the Old City Hall Building after major pedestrianisation works that concluded in the early 2020s.

Service 961 only operates on Weekdays and Saturdays. During Sundays and Public Holidays, a route variant 961M operates with an additional detour via Marina Centre, passing by Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade in a bidirectional loop.
