SBS Transit Express Service 851e is an express variant of bus service 851 that connects the residential estates of Yishun and Ang Mo Kio to the city area such as Outram and Downtown Core. Unlike its parent service, it travels via an express sector along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Central Expressway (CTE), bypassing Marymount subzone (Bishan) and Novena. It shares similarities with the former Chinatown Direct CT8, as both services operated between Ang Mo Kio and Chinatown. As a connector between the residential areas of Yishun and Ang Mo Kio and the Central Business District, the service experiences moderate demand during peak periods. For the rest of the day, demand is relatively low.
