SBS Transit Bus Service 72 serves Yio Chu Kang, Ang Mo Kio, Hougang and Tampines. It serves major places like ITE College Central, Hougang station and industrial areas along Tampines Road. It complements Services 116 and 329 along Hougang Avenues 4 and 9 and complements Services 27 and 168 along Tampines Avenue 9.

SBS Transit Short-Trip Service 72A operates on weekdays to supplement the high demand for Service 72, which serves Yio Chu Kang station, ITE College Central and Hougang station. It operates more trips during ITE College Central vacations, to compensate for the fact that Short-Trip Service 72B is not in operation. It terminates at Hougang Central (Opp Hougang Ctrl Int).

SBS Transit Short-Trip Service 72B operates on weekdays, except ITE College Central vacations, to supplement high demand from Yio Chu Kang station to ITE College Central without having to operate full-distance trips of Service 72. It terminates at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 (Ite Coll Ctrl).
