	From Sunday, 14 November 2024 to 31 October 2025, Train services on the Bukit Panjang LRT will end an hour earlier at 22:30 every Thursday to Sunday (except Public Holidays). This is to facilitate the upgrading of the BPLRT signalling system, as well as the testing of the new and retrofitted Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) on the BPLRT network. SMRT Buses Bus Service 961 is an inter-town route connecting residential areas of Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Queenstown and Bukit Merah to the central areas of Outram, Downtown Core and Kallang. It complements Service 170 (between Woodlands Road and Dunearn Road), Service 153 (between Farrer Road and Jalan Bukit Merah) and Service 147 (between Queensway and Chinatown) while serving the industries along Woodlands Road, Jalan Bukit Merah and Kallang Bahru.

This service is the 5^th longest bidirectional bus route in Singapore plying the main roads of Woodlands Road, Upper Bukit Timah Road, Bukit Timah Road and Jalan Bukit Merah in its length. It is also one of the two remaining services that pass by the Old City Hall Building after the major pedestrianisation works in the early 2020s.

Service 961 does not operate when Service 961M operates on Sundays and Public Holidays, a route variant that detours via Marina Centre, passing by Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade in a bidirectional loop.
