Tower Transit Bus Service 856 is an inter-town bus service that connects the residential estates of Yishun, Sembawang, and Woodlands to the Senoko Industrial estate and Woodlands Industrial Park. It provides an essential connection from the Woodlands Regional Centre to the Woodlands Train Checkpoint, despite being duplicated by Service 950 and well supplemented by alternative Feeder Service 911. This service is also complemented by Service 981 (between Sembawang and Senoko) and Service 858 (between Yishun and Sembawang).

On weekdays, Short-Trip service 856A supplements the evening cross-border demand from Woodlands, while Short-Trip service 856B supplements the Senoko industrial demand during the morning peak period.
