Tower Transit Bus Service 857 is an inter-town bus service that connects the residential estates of Yishun and Kallang to the industrial estates along Yio Chu Kang Road and the city area such as Downtown Core.

This service plies the express sector of the Central Expressway (CTE) between Yio Chu Kang Road and Bendemeer, which also makes it the only full-day service to provide a fast connection between Yishun and the city area besides the Yishun City Direct Services that only operate during peak hours. It experiences high demand during weekends, with most commuters travelling to and fro Little India, which led to the introduction of downroute trips from Little India to alleviate the huge surge in demand.

Previously, under Trans Island Bus Services and later SMRT Buses, buses displayed the “SUNTEC CITY” scroll in the Temasek Avenue direction as an easy landmark to identify for commuters taking this service.

Buses departing Yishun Interchange after 2240 hours terminate at Temasek Avenue (Suntec City) instead of looping back. These trips are previously not indicated until the introduction of the “B” suffix (Short-Trip 857B) in April 2021.
