Tower Transit Bus Service 856 is an inter-town bus service that connects the residential estates of Yishun, Sembawang, and Woodlands to the Senoko Industrial estate and Woodlands Industrial Park. It provides an essential connection from the Woodlands Regional Centre to the Woodlands Train Checkpoint, supplementing Service 950 and Feeder Service 911. This service is also complemented by Service 981 (between Sembawang and Senoko) and Service 858 (between Yishun and Sembawang).

On weekdays, Short-Trip Service 856A supplements the evening cross-border demand from Woodlands, while Short-Trip Service 856B supplements the Senoko industrial demand during the morning peak period.

This service calls at a bus stop along Woodlands North Coast Road twice in different directions, i.e. towards Woodlands Int and towards Yishun Int. Commuters are to check the Electronic Display Signage (EDS) on buses which indicate the direction of travel.
