Tower Transit Bus Service 859 is an inter-town route linking the residential estates of Sembawang and Yishun West. It connects residential blocks, schools, and public amenities in Sembawang Neighbourhoods 3, 4, and 5 and Yishun Neighbourhood 1 to Sembawang station, Yishun station and Town Centres of Yishun and Sembawang. This service is complemented by supplementary Services 859A and 859B, which operate within Sembawang and Service 856 between Canberra Road and Yishun Interchange.

Before the regular deployment of double-decker buses, articulated buses were commonly used on Service 859 between 2000 and 2009. These buses were reinstated on weekends and public holidays from 2015 until the transition to double-deckers in December 2018.

Following the opening of Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 3, Service 859 was initially scheduled to ply Canberra Link from 10 December 2023, coinciding with the withdrawal of Service 167.^[1] However, this plan was later revised, with the amendment taking effect on 17 December 2023 following the reinstatement of Service 167.^[2]

Terminating Trip Service 859T operates after the final departure of Service 859 from Sembawang Interchange, terminating at Yishun Interchange instead of looping back. Previously, these trips were not indicated until the “T” suffix was introduced in April 2021.
